Rexdale Women's Centre offers in-person, virtual and hybrid services at our multiple locations, over the telephone, via email, Zoom, Skype and Google Classroom.

Board of Directors Members Wanted

At Rexdale Women's Centre, we support immigrant, refugee and newcomer women and their families to become fully participating members in Canadian society. As a leader in our sector, we enhance our clients' self-sufficiency and competence by providing essential services and facilitating access to community resources.

Our vision is for immigrant, refugee and newcomer women and their families to effectively settle and integrate into Canadian society. We are committed to working with our clients to be self-sufficient and financially secure. They will live happy, safe, healthy and socially engaged lives in which they are honoured and respected for who they are regardless of their background.

Rexdale Women's Centre is seeking individuals who are committed and who are interested in volunteering on our Board of Directors.

We are seeking individuals who:

  • are knowledgeable and sensitive of the settlement, social and cultural issues and barriers experienced by women, immigrant women, refugee women and women of diverse cultures and their family members;
  • are knowledgeable about and sensitive to violence against women, elderly, and children;
  • are knowledgeable about services and social and resource systems and structures available to immigrants, refugees, migrants, and international students
  • have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • understand the role and service delivery model of community-based, non-profit organizations;
  • are prepared to commit 3-5 hours per month to the organization (board and committee meetings, annual general meeting, special events, functions, etc);
  • are prepared to actively participate in planning and implementing fundraising activities and events;
  • are able to commit a minimum of 2 years to serve on the Board of Directors;
  • live or work in Etobicoke and/or City of Toronto.

Currently, we are seeking individuals of Afro-Canadian-Black, African, South Asian, Hispanic, Indigenous and/or West Indian origin, and community representation. We are seeking individuals with HR Management, Finance/Accounting, and Legal skills and expertise.

To be eligible to be elected to the Board of Directors and/or vote at the Annual General Meeting, an individual must be a member of Rexdale Women's Centre.
