Employment Services

At the Rexdale Women’s Centre, we support immigrant, refugee, and newcomer women and their families in becoming fully participating members of Canadian society. We enhance our clients’ employability and self-sufficiency by providing inclusive employment-related services and facilitating access to community resources.

We provide essential skills training and assist newcomers in overcoming employment barriers, such as credential recognition, the licensure process, and cultural training in Canadian employment customs. Additionally, we teach job search skills to help newcomers access the Canadian Labour Market and assist with resume, cover letter, and interview preparation. Our services include direct one-on-one counselling, community-wide job fairs, and networking opportunities.

The services are administered through two programs, the Employment Related Services and Supporting Visible Minority and Newcomer Women’s Employment Program, which target different client populations.

Supporting Visible Minority and Newcomer Women’s Employment Program

The Supporting Visible Minority and Newcomer Women’s Employment Program is designed to empower visible minority newcomer women by building their employable skills, resilience, and emotional well-being so that they can confidently enter the Canadian Labour Market.

The program provides an umbrella of free employment-related services. Our councillors assess participants' experience and credentials and help them create and execute an employment action plan.
